The UK Conservative Government has today confirmed that it will take a major step by entering into negotiations with Hitachi and Horizon Nuclear Power in relation to the development and construction of a new nuclear power station at Wylfa Newydd, located on Anglesey in North Wales.

Plans to move mud from alongside the Hinkley Point nuclear site in Somerset to a dumping ground off Cardiff Bay have been debated by AMs.

It comes after a petition to the assembly against the plans attracted over 7,000 signatures.
